Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Indian Crossword ("Indian Crossword," "we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use Indian Crossword, available at nocapera.com/crossword/.

Indian Crossword is a free daily crossword puzzle that you can play without creating an account. If you choose to create an account or sign in with Google, we collect limited information to provide account features such as saving your progress, puzzle history, and gameplay statistics across devices.

This Privacy Policy should be read together with our Terms of Service.

1. Information We Collect

We collect limited information to provide, maintain, and improve Indian Crossword. The information we collect depends on how you use the site and whether you choose to create an account.

1.1 Information You Provide

1.1.1 Information You Provide When You Create an Account

If you choose to create an account or sign in to Indian Crossword, we may collect information provided through the sign-in or authentication method you choose. We currently offer sign-in with Google and may offer additional sign-in options in the future.

When you sign in with Google, we may receive and store information associated with your Google account, including:

The specific information we receive may vary depending on the authentication method you use.

When you use a third-party authentication provider such as Google, we do not receive or store your password.

1.1.2 Information We Assign to Your Account

When you create an Indian Crossword account, we assign you a unique Account ID. We use this ID to identify and manage your account and associate it with your crossword progress, puzzle history, and gameplay statistics.

We also record the date and time you last signed in and the date and time you were last active on the site. We use this information to manage your account and understand how the service is used.

1.1.3 Information You Voluntarily Provide

You may choose to provide information when you interact with Indian Crossword, such as when you contact us, provide feedback, report an issue, or otherwise communicate with us.

This may include your name, email address, message or feedback, and any other information you choose to include in your communication.

1.2 Information Generated Through Your Use of Indian Crossword

1.2.1 Gameplay Information

When you play Indian Crossword, we may collect information about your gameplay and interactions with puzzles. This may include:

If you play without creating an account, gameplay information is stored in your browser's local storage. This data remains on your device and is not sent to our servers unless you sign in.

If you later sign in on that same browser, this locally stored information may be uploaded to and associated with your Indian Crossword account so that your progress and statistics can be saved.

When you are signed in, gameplay information is associated with your Account ID and stored on our servers so that your progress, puzzle history, and statistics are available across devices.

1.2.2 Device and Technical Information

We use a product analytics service to understand how Indian Crossword is used, so we can see which puzzles are too hard, where people get stuck, and what is broken. Through that service we collect technical information including your browser and device type, screen size, operating system, approximate location derived from your IP address (country and region, not a precise location), the pages you view, and the website that referred you, where one exists.

We record the referring website's domain only, never the full referring address.

Our web server processes IP addresses in memory for rate limiting purposes to protect the service from abuse. Server access logs are disabled, so IP addresses are not recorded or stored in our own server logs.

1.2.3 Cookies, Analytics and Similar Technologies

Indian Crossword may use cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember your preferences, maintain your session, understand how the site is used, and improve your experience.

We also store certain information directly on your device, such as your saved puzzle progress, settings, and gameplay history. This lets you pick up where you left off, even before you sign in.

We use a third-party product analytics service (PostHog) to measure how the site is used. It records events describing actions taken within Indian Crossword — for example opening a puzzle, using Check or Reveal, completing a puzzle, sharing a result, or signing in — together with the technical information described in section 1.2.2, and it sets a cookie so that repeat visits from the same browser can be recognised.

Analytics data is collected only about your use of Indian Crossword. We do not use cookies or similar technologies for advertising, and we do not use any tool that tracks your activity on other websites.

We do not record your screen, and we do not capture the letters you type into the grid.

If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal, we do not load analytics at all.

You can manage or delete cookies and stored data at any time through your browser settings. Doing so may sign you out or clear your saved progress and preferences.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect only for purposes related to providing, operating, securing, and improving Indian Crossword.

2.1 To Provide and Manage Your Account

We use your account information and Account ID to:

2.2 To Provide Gameplay Features

We use gameplay information to:

2.3 To Operate and Improve Indian Crossword

We may use information to:

We use analytics only to understand and improve Indian Crossword itself. We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not track your activity across other websites or services.

2.4 To Maintain Security and Prevent Abuse

We may use information to:

Our web server processes IP addresses in memory for rate limiting to protect against abusive traffic. Rate limiting is applied by IP address rather than by individual account. This processing is described in Section 1.2.2.

2.5 To Communicate With You

We may use your email address and other contact information associated with your account to:

Daily puzzle notifications are sent to all account holders as part of using Indian Crossword. By creating an account, you agree to receive these emails as described in this Privacy Policy. Each email includes an unsubscribe link, which you can use at any time to stop receiving them.

2.6 To Comply With Legal Requirements

We may use or disclose information when necessary to comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or lawful requests from government authorities.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share personal information only when necessary to provide and operate Indian Crossword, protect the service, comply with legal requirements, or when you choose to share information through features of the site.

3.1 Service Providers

We may share or allow access to personal information with third-party service providers that help us operate Indian Crossword. These may include providers used for:

Our product analytics provider is PostHog, which processes the information described in sections 1.2.2 and 1.2.3 on our behalf. If you are signed in, your account ID, email address and display name are shared with PostHog so that your activity can be recognised across your devices. See PostHog's Privacy Policy.

These service providers may process personal information only as necessary to provide services to us and are expected to protect the information in accordance with applicable privacy and security requirements.

3.2 Authentication Providers

When you choose to sign in using a third-party authentication provider, such as Google, information may be exchanged between Indian Crossword and that provider as necessary to authenticate your account and provide the sign-in service.

Your use of a third-party authentication provider is also subject to that provider's own privacy policy and terms. For Google, see Google's Privacy Policy.

3.3 Sharing Your Puzzle Results

Indian Crossword allows you to share your puzzle results with others through a sharing feature.

When you choose to share a puzzle result, the shared content includes:

The shared content does not include your name, email address, or other personal information. Sharing is initiated by you and uses your device's native share functionality or clipboard.

Indian Crossword does not access your contacts or address book to share your results.

3.4 Legal and Safety Requirements

We may disclose personal information when reasonably necessary to:

3.5 Business Transfers

If Indian Crossword or substantially all of its assets are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, sale, or similar business transaction, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.

3.6 What We Don't Do

We do not:

We only share information for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy or where otherwise permitted or required by applicable law.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account and puzzle activity data for as long as your account remains active.

If you want to delete your account and associated personal data, you can request deletion by emailing us at info@nocapera.com. Account deletion requests are processed manually. Once we receive and verify your request, we will delete your personal data from our active systems within a reasonable period, except where we are required or permitted by applicable law to retain certain information.

Some information may remain temporarily in backup copies of our systems. Such copies are retained only for as long as necessary under our normal backup and retention processes and are not used for ongoing account or gameplay purposes.

We may retain certain information for longer where necessary to comply with applicable law, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, or protect the security and integrity of Indian Crossword.

5. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights over the personal data we hold about you. For users in India, these rights are provided primarily under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, to the extent the relevant provisions are applicable.

You may have the right to:

5.1 Access Information

Request information about the personal data we process about you and how it is being used, subject to applicable law.

5.2 Correct Your Information

Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal information associated with your account.

5.3 Request Deletion

Request deletion of your personal data when you no longer want to use Indian Crossword or where deletion is otherwise permitted under applicable law. This is described in more detail in Section 4.

You can request deletion by emailing us at info@nocapera.com.

5.4 Withdraw Consent

Where we process your personal data based on your consent — such as when you sign in with Google to create an account — you may withdraw that consent at any time.

To withdraw consent, you can request deletion of your account as described in Section 5.3. Once your account is deleted, we will stop processing the personal data associated with it.

Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing that took place before you withdrew it. Because your account and its features (such as saved progress, puzzle history, and statistics) depend on this data, withdrawing consent means you will no longer be able to use those features.

5.5 How to Exercise Your Rights

To exercise your privacy rights or request information about your personal data, contact us at info@nocapera.com.

We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests to protect your account and personal information.

We will respond to requests within the time required by applicable law.

5.6 Grievances

If you have a concern about how we handle your personal data, you can contact us at info@nocapera.com. We will provide a mechanism for submitting and resolving privacy-related grievances in accordance with applicable law.

6. Children's Privacy

You must be at least 13 years old to use Indian Crossword.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe that a child under 13 has signed in to Indian Crossword and provided personal information, please contact us at info@nocapera.com. We will take appropriate steps to verify the request and delete the relevant data, where required.

Parents and legal guardians may also contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of their child's personal data, subject to applicable law.

7. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the personal information we process from unauthorised access, use, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

These measures include technical and organisational safeguards such as encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), HTTP security headers, rate limiting, and access controls.

However, no website, online service, or method of electronic transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. We cannot guarantee that your information will never be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed as a result of a security incident.

7.1 Security Incidents

If we become aware of a personal data breach or security incident affecting your personal information, we will take reasonable steps to investigate, contain, and address the incident.

Where required by applicable law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and applicable rules, we will provide the required notifications to affected individuals and the relevant authorities within the prescribed timeframes.

7.2 Your Responsibility

You are responsible for keeping your account secure. If you believe that your Indian Crossword account has been accessed without your permission, please contact us at info@nocapera.com.

We will take reasonable steps to investigate and secure your account, which may include revoking or deleting your account.

8. International Users

Indian Crossword is available to users worldwide. Regardless of where you access the site from, your personal information may be processed and stored in India or in another country where we or our service providers operate.

Data protection and privacy laws may differ between countries. We will handle your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) in India.

If you are located in a jurisdiction where additional privacy rights or requirements apply, those rights may apply to the processing of your personal information to the extent required by applicable law.

9. Legal Basis

Indian Crossword processes personal data in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and applicable laws.

We may process your personal data on the following bases:

9.1 Consent

Where we rely on your consent, we will seek your consent for a specific purpose and provide information about the personal data being processed and why it is being processed.

For example, when you choose to create an account or sign in using Google, we process the information necessary to create and manage your account and provide account-based features, such as saving and syncing your puzzle progress and statistics.

Where applicable, you may withdraw your consent. You can also request deletion of your account and associated personal data as described in Section 5.

9.2 Certain Legitimate Uses

The DPDP Act permits certain personal data to be processed without obtaining consent where the processing falls within a legitimate use recognised under the Act.

Where applicable, we may process limited information for purposes such as:

For example, our web server processes IP addresses in memory for rate limiting to help detect and limit abusive traffic.

We process personal data only for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy or otherwise permitted under applicable law.

9.3 Children's Data

Where a user is under the age described in Section 6, we will process their personal data only in accordance with that section.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to Indian Crossword, our practices, or applicable laws.

When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the beginning of this Privacy Policy.

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we handle your personal data.

Your continued use of Indian Crossword after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective means that you acknowledge the updated Policy, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
